Is the concealed carry training fee different from the Illinois State Police application fee?

Yes. The concealed carry training fee is a separate fee from the Illinois State Police application fee. Please visit the ISP Firearms Services Bureau website at ispfsb.com to find out more.

What are the requirements to receiving a concealed carry training certificate?

The state of Illinois requires an individual to have successfully completed 16 hours of training, including classroom and range instruction. The information on the certificate will be used to complete the information required on the concealed carry license application.

What is the cost for an Illinois Concealed Carry license?

$150 for Illinois residents

If I paid for a class and cannot make it, can I get my money back?

No. All class fees are non-refundable, but can be transferable to another class.

Do I have to have a FOID card to take the class?

No, you are not required to have a FOID card to register for the concealed carry class. However, a FOID card is required when you apply for your concealed carry license. If you do not have one when applying for your CCL you must also apply for the FOID card.

Can I take the concealed carry class if I have a felony?

If you are a felon, you CANNOT register for class.

How old do I have to be to take the class?

An individual will have to be 21 years old.

Am I required to bring a firearm for class?

No you are not. We supply firearms, ammunition, and target for your training. This is included in your class fee.

If I am ex-military, am I required to do the 16 hours of training?

No. You are only required to do eight hours of training. The fee is $100.

If I work in security, am I required to do the 16 hours of training?

No, you are not required to do any training hours. However, we suggest you register for eight hours of training to learn about personal protection, which is different from protection of people's property.
